Dear Village Resident: Since the Waste Management Company began garbage removal in the Village on January 1, 2000, residents have had questions regarding holiday trash pick-up scheduling. As a result, we are enclosing the annual holiday schedule along with an explanation of alternate collection days. Since Waste Management Co. is a union shop, the following holidays will be observed by the company for this year: Holidays New Year's Day Martin L. King Day Presidents Day Memorial Day Independence Day Labor Day Columbus Day Veterans Day Thanksgiving Day Christmas Day Households north of Duck Pond Road (including the north side of Duck Pond Road) will be picked up on Mondays and Thursdays. Households south of Duck Pond Road (including the south side of Duck Pond Road) will be picked up on Tuesdays and Fridays. Recyclables will be picked up on Wednesdays. Some recyclables, such as newspapers, will also be picked up on regular garbage pick-up days if there is room on the truck. Whenever a holiday occurs, trash willbe collected on the following day. In other words, if a holidayfalls on a Monday and your pick-up day is also on Monday, yourtrash will be collected on the following Tuesday. People normallyscheduled for a Tuesday pick-up will then have their trash collectedon the following Wednesday. If a holiday occurs on a Tuesday andyour pick-up is also scheduled on Tuesday, your trash will becollected on the following Wednesday. If a holiday occurs on aThursday and your pickup day is also on Thursday, your trash willbe collected on the following Friday. People scheduled for thatFriday will have their trash collected on the following Saturday.Please see the following schedule for clarification. Normal Pick-up Days If Holiday Falls On Revised Pick-up Days Monday & Thursday Monday Tuesday & Thursday Tuesday & Friday           Monday & Thursday Tuesday Monday & Thursday Tuesday & Friday   Wednesday & Friday       Monday & Thursday Thursday Monday & Friday Tuesday & Friday   Tuesday & Saturday Recyclables and newspapers will be collected every Wednesday. On weeks where a holiday occurs and regular trash is collected on Wednesday, recyclables will be collected until the truck is full.
